Over the last few years, DTE has undertaken an increasing amount of woodland based contracting work ranging from specialist veteran contracts, to woodland thinning and specialist contracts for the forestry Commission, which have all been off road works.
This nature of contract has historically required the need for a tracked wood chipper in order to facilitate the processing of pruning arisings on site. As other contractors develop their business strategy, we have noticed that we are finding it harder and harder to compete with companies who own their own tracked wood chipper due to the fact that our tenders include the cost of a hire machine.
With the help of the West Kent LEADER program, we successfully gained 40% funding towards our own in-house machine which we plan to use as the basis of creating more local employment through awarded contracts.
