When Visual Inspection Is Not Enough
Some trees need more than a walk around the base. Where we find fungal brackets, cavities or cracks, we investigate properly using PiCUS sonic tomography, electrical resistance tomography and Resistograph micro-drill testing. These methods measure what is actually left inside the stem.
This matters because it often saves the tree. Rather than recommending removal on the basis of suspicion, we can show the remaining wall thickness and calculate whether the tree is safe to keep, sometimes with a crown reduction to take weight off. Plenty of trees we have tested in and around Sevenoaks are still standing because the evidence supported retention.
Planning Applications in Sevenoaks District
Trees are a material consideration in the planning process, and Sevenoaks District Council will often request arboricultural information before determining an application. Getting a survey done early in your design process is far cheaper than redrawing plans after a refusal.
